When a vehicle is stuck in mud, the first request should describe the situation rather than assume a simple pull will solve it. Ground conditions, the vehicle's position, access, and nearby hazards all affect what may be possible.
Describe the scene from a safe position
Tell dispatch how the vehicle became stuck, which wheels are affected, and whether the body appears to be resting on the ground. Include the slope, available access route, and any ditch, water, fence, or structure nearby. Do not enter unstable ground to take measurements or photographs.
Avoid making the situation harder
Repeatedly spinning the wheels can change the vehicle's position and surrounding ground. Do not attach a rope to an unverified point or ask another vehicle to pull without a suitable recovery plan. Keep people away from any equipment or line under load and follow the operator's directions.
If rising water, downed wires, or another immediate hazard is involved, contact emergency services. Do not treat a hazardous scene as an ordinary stuck-car call.
Confirm property access
Explain who controls the land and whether a recovery vehicle is permitted to enter. If you are on someone else's property, obtain the appropriate cooperation rather than assuming the towing request resolves access. Mention gates or surfaces that might not support heavy equipment.

Recovery is not an invitation for the customer to prepare anchor points, rigging, or pulling equipment before the operator arrives.
